Privacy Policy

Effective 17 September 2026 · Last updated 17 September 2026

The short version. Scutter has no account, no backend of ours and no analytics. Your photos are analyzed on your iPhone and never leave it. We do not collect, transmit, sell or share your personal data. One optional feature asks Apple's map service what a place is called, and sends the coordinates of that place — never your photos. You can turn it off.

This policy explains what Scutter ("the app", "we", "us") does with information on your device. It applies to the Scutter iOS app, published by Vidtory Labs — the trading name of Vidtory Technology.

1. What we collect

Nothing. Scutter does not operate a backend, does not require an account, and contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs. No usage data, device identifier, contact detail or photo is ever sent to us. The single exception to "or to any third party" is described in section 3, and it is under your control.

2. Your photo library

Scutter asks for access to your photo library so it can find similar shots, duplicates, bursts, screenshots, blurry photos, Live Photos and large videos. With that access, and only on your device, it:

Scutter never uploads photos, thumbnails or fingerprints. It does not download photos from iCloud while scanning.

3. Place names

Scutter can group your photos by where they were taken. The grouping itself happens entirely on your device, from the location your camera saved inside each photo — asking for it needs no location permission, because the photo already carries it, and Scutter never asks your iPhone where you are.

Giving those groups readable names is the one part that is not on-device. To turn a group's coordinates into a name like "Da Nang, Vietnam", Scutter asks Apple's geocoding service. When that happens:

Place names are on when you install Scutter, and you can turn them off at any time in Settings → Look Up Place Names. With them off, your photos are still grouped by place; the groups are named by the dates they cover instead.

Deleting and converting

Scutter only removes photos you select, and iOS always asks you to confirm. Removed items go to Photos' Recently Deleted album, where they stay for 30 days. When you convert Live Photos to still photos, Scutter saves a new still photo (keeping its date, location, favourite status and albums) and moves the original to Recently Deleted; if an original is stored only in iCloud, it is downloaded through Apple's iCloud Photos to do this.

4. Free space

Scutter reads how much free space your iPhone has before and after a cleanup, to show you the space you actually got back. This number stays on your device.

5. What is stored on your device

Deleting the app removes all of this. It may be included in your own iCloud or encrypted backup, which is governed by Apple and your device settings.

6. Purchases

Scutter Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. The app checks your purchase on the device with Apple's StoreKit to unlock Scutter Pro. We never see or receive your payment card, billing address or Apple Account details, and we don't keep a record of your purchases on any server.

7. Crash reports and diagnostics

If you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymised crash and performance reports. That sharing is controlled by Apple and by you.

8. Children

Scutter is not directed at children under 13, and because the app collects no personal data, none is collected from children either.

9. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data a company holds about you. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. We do not sell or share personal information.

10. Changes to this policy

If Scutter ever gains a feature that changes how data is handled, we will update this page and the date at the top before that feature ships.
